Blog 1: First Location Shoot
My first ever location and portrait photoshoot was at the laundromat. Shooting in a laundromat has always been my dream, and I finally had the guts to do it. My friend Jordyn offered to be my model and I was beyond thankful. For it being my first-time shooting portraits, I was terrified. Having her as my model, made me feel a little better while shooting.
I had found one laundromat which I quote from Jordyn “was bougie” that I had planned on using. Fast forward to shooting day, we get to the bougie laundromat and there are so many people in there. There were kids running around, people doing laundry, and people walking in with their bags of laundry. It was just a lot of things going on.
So, we decided to leave and find another laundromat, hoping the next one wouldn’t be as busy as the bougie one. We then found a new one not that far and noticed that luckily there were not a lot of people in this one. The reason why Jordyn had said the other laundromat was bougie was that it was a lot nicer than the one we shot at, which didn’t fit the vibe.
As you can see, from what Jordyn was wearing, a nice laundromat was not it.
There were people who were around us while we shot but they didn’t say anything to us. Although no one said anything, we did get a lot of looks. I like to think that they were just curious why this girl had rollers in her hair and why was this girl taking pictures of her. We took so many pictures and we both enjoyed doing something out of the box.
